Stand up comedy is an art form that can be difficult to master, but South African comedians have a natural ability.

Whether it’s hilarious observational comedy or biting political satire, South Africa has produced some of the worlds funniest comedians.

The question remains: who is the funniest comedian in South Africa?

Pip Freedman was a South African born radio comedian and film actor and was best known for his performances on SABC's Springbok Radio on the show, The Pip Freedman Show. His career, starting in the 1950s, spanned six decades until 2002.

 

 

  

2. Riaad Moosa - My American Family

Riaad Moosa started doing stand-up on campus during his fourth year at University of Cape Town.He started performing stand-up at the Cape Comedy Collective's free Comedy Lab workshops, and just two months later, he was the winner of the "One City, Many Comics Talent Competition" held as part of the One City Festival in September 1999. He became a regular headliner on the comedy circuit during his first year, where he was also invited to perform on Pieter Dirk Uys's Evita Live and Dangerous e.tv comedy show. In 2000, he came to prominence on the comedy-club circuit in Cape Town.
